Adeniyi Arimoro (MD/Ecology)

Adeniyi Arimoro is a seasoned Environmental Ecologist and has extensive experience in environmental consulting services for some 25 years. He has participated in the production and review of several papers and reports on biodiversity conservation studies and environmental Projects including ESIA, ESA, EER, EAu, EDD, EM, HSE and EMS in wetland, highland and lowland rain forests of Nigeria. He has coordinated and supervised many Projects and led the design, implementation and management of environmental and ecosystem protection programmes, including 100 environmental studies for Julius Berger, NNPC, other Oil & Gas corporations, and the World Bank.  Since 2005 to date he has been actively involved in various environmental studies for the Marginal Field Development (MFD) Projects and has helped to obtain EIA approvals for these developers. He has managed and coordinated many ESIAs for LNG, CNG and other Gas Plant and Gas Pipeline Projects successfully for clients such as Platform Petroleum Ltd, Isomer Energy Ltd, VTT LNG West Africa Ltd, Fradro Gas & Power Ltd, Seplat Energy, Midwestern Oil & Gas Co, West African Gas Pipeline Co. (and currently for GasInvest Ltd, at Onne, Rivers State, Nigeria).

He participated in ESHIA of mega Projects such as the Olokola LNG in Lagos/Ogun States and Brass LNG; and EIA/EER of V-Mobile Base Stations in all of Lagos State and Southwestern Nigeria. His expert contributions to national policies on sustainable natural resources’ utilization are outstanding. These include Report review of coastal habitats; and DFID/ERM Report of Impact of Climate Change on Nigeria’s Economy (for the 2010 Copenhagen Climate Change Summit). He also contributed to the review of the EIA Act and Sectoral Guidelines for major development sectors in Nigeria (including the Infrastructure, Renewable Energy and the Oil & Gas Sectors) for the Federal Ministry of Environment and World Bank. His contribution to the World Bank-funded Project: Micro-Watershed and Environmental Management Programme (MEMP) – Environmental Assessment of Bauchi and Imo States (including ecological research in Yankari National Park) was remarkable. He participated in the African Development Bank-funded Project: Forest Resources Study of Nigeria (1996-1999).

Adeniyi was among the first consultants called to design and initiate EIA process for Gas Plant Projects for IPPs in Nigeria. He has also authored technical papers on EIA and biodiversity conservation for international scientific journals, such as African Journal of Environmental Assessment and Management; American Journal of Environmental Sciences; The Lyonia Journal of Ecology and Society; and IUCN World Conservation Union.

He holds a M.Sc. in Ecology (University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria); and a B.Sc. in Crop Improvement, Dept. of Crop Protection and Environmental Biology (University of Ibadan).

Regina Arimoro (OD/Ecosystem Conservation)

Regina is an expert biodiversity conservationist with over 20 years of field and laboratory experience. She developed unique skills in conservation biology and taxonomy studies and contributed to numerous scientific reviews/reports. She has proved to be outstanding in environmental education and conservation awareness programmes. Regina is a plaque awardee (2007) of outstanding job performance by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF). Regina holds a M.Sc. in Environmental Biology (Plant Genetics) from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria); and a B.Sc. in Crop Protection and Environmental Biology (Crop Improvement) from the same university.

Oluseun Olubode (TD/Plant Ecology)

Dr. Olubode is an experienced plant scientist. He has participated in several vegetation ecological research activities and has acquired skills in ecological impact assessment studies, plant identification, vegetation categorization and habitat description in the tropics. He has conducted various research studies and environmental assessments (including several EIA, EES and ESIA) across various ecologies in Nigeria. He is a species and ecosystem conservation expert, and has successfully led and also participated as a leading expert in conservation of a National Park (Marguba Range of Old Oyo National Park and environs) and Forest  Reserves (Olokemeji Forest Reserve and Onigambari Forest Reserve in Ogun and Oyo States Respectively).

Since 2003, he has been well involved in the various component of internationally funded conservation of the Nigerian endemic monkey (Sclater’s guenon – Cercopithecus sclateri) in the highly degraded forests of southeast and Niger Delta regions of Nigeria from the perspectives of species demographic attributes, habitat sustainability, human-monkey relations, environmental threats and traditional institution that support and could enhance the monkey’s conservation. He has conducted and published studies in environmental biology of crops from the viewpoints of crop protection (weed management and vertebrate pest management) and conservation of biota for improved crop production. He currently leads a team to develop a proposal for Zero Oil economy initiative of the current administration. His research further encourages biodiversity conservation (species and ecosystem) within the working spaces of arable farmlands (and where necessary, laboratory assays) on the one hand and fragile wetland areas on the other. Thus, the scope of his research covers protected and unprotected spaces across various vegetation and agro-ecologies in Nigeria, especially the southern guinea savannah, derived savannah, lowland rainforests and mangrove swamps.

Dr. Olubode is a well published and awarded plant Ecologist/Environmental Biologist. He has consistently anchored and facilitated keynote speech, discussions and workshops on the environment and Environmental Assessments. He holds two (2020 and 2021) Special Awards from Environmental Health Students’ Association of the Faculty of Public Health, University of Ibadan. He is a member of prestigious national and international learned societies, including Society for Conservation Biology, International Association for Ecology (INTECOL), Ecological Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Society for Plant Protection, among others. He is the Technical Director for AFruitful Environment Limited (2010-2021).

Dr. Olubode, a Watson International Scholar of the Environment (Brown University, USA) holds a doctorate degree in Plant Ecology and a Master degree in Environmental Biology, from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.
